O Christmas Tree... O Christmas Tree...

This year we spent Christmas at my Moms house in Colorado. This is what the house looked like when we got there:

I was super happy that there was snow on the ground. The entire week before we were to get there the weatherman was saying that there wasn't going to be any snow and it was making me sad.

First of all, the trip started off with a 6am departure time on Christmas Eve morning from Ontario Airport. Ugh. I've now vowed that my Mom no longer gets to pick our flight times based on the time that we land in Denver. We got to our gate in the terminal BEFORE the coffee shop opened. That is officially way too early to fly. The flight there was nothing special. No delays, which we were grateful for. There were snow flurries in Denver, so we were worried about possible delays.

Just before we landed the Pilot came on and said that we were landing 15 minutes early and that it was -13. Pause. Celsius outside! He totally got me, I was not going to get off the plane if it was that cold. It's next stop was Tampa, and I was ready to stay on the plane.

It was beautiful as we landed. The snow was glistening on the ground. We were going to have a White Christmas! I was so excited.

When we finally got to the Ranch, the fresh powder was everywhere. As we were walking through it to get to the shop it was mid calf on me. Awesome! It was a little hard to walk in, but so worth it. The sun was shining and Presley and I were out playing on her sleds. I attempted one slide down the little hill, but totally ate crap. Jonathan was kind enough to get pictures of it. After that debacle I realized that I needed some snow pants. We ran down to the store and got some snow pants for me and snow boots for Jonathan. We planned on coming right back and sledding a bit with Presley. But my Mom decided that it was time to head to Ft. Collins to go to dinner, so that plan was flattened.

We woke up Christmas morning to howling winds. The overnight winds had blown away most of the powder on the ground. We were super bummed. Since we hadn't gotten the chance the day before to go sledding, we had planned on going either before or after our Christmas meal. Now however, those plans were squashed. Not enough snow on the ground to do much in.

So, we walked upstairs and started opening the presents. Then Tim dropped the bomb on us just after we had taken our first sips of coffee. No Water! AAAHHHH! What do you mean? How can this happen?? This isn't just no water for the sinks, laundry, toilets, etc; the heater that they mainly use in the home is 'Radiant Heat', it is hot water flowing through mesh under the flooring. No water means no hot water flowing through the floor. Which means no heater. My worst nightmare. But I was explained to that there was in fact a 150 gallon water heater downstairs, and that the floor would be ok. One victory.

The flowing water, however, was a different story. After many calls to the on-call guy from Little Thompson Water Company (which apparently is a friend of Tims...who knew?!?) they found the source of the problem. The pump house door had blown open in the overnight high winds and had frozen the pump and pump piping that was above ground. Great. And where is the nearest replacement pump? California. How soon could that get here? Monday. Not awesome.

Well after some finagling they got our water on at about half pressure. This itself took four and a half hours to get done. So our cooking was all behind and no one had showered due to the lack of water. As soon as the water was on I dashed downstairs to get into the shower. I was not going to have the cold water shower. No way.

The rest of Christmas day was just spend laying around and watching TV. They are still in a small enough town out there that everything shuts down for Christmas Day. So we were mainly stuck at home, but at least it was in a awesome house. I took pics of it, so I will post those a bit later as well.

We played with all the toys that Presley got. Watched some of the Mythbusters Marathon. Drank some wine. The day started in crisis mode, but ended almost perfectly.

Oh, and of course we watched the Chargers woop some Titan butt. Go Bolts!

So Jonathan and I started watching 30 Rock on the Netflix live stream.

BRILLIANT!!

I absolutely love it. I can't believe that we haven't tuned into this show before.

AMAZING!!

Everyone needs to watch it. We just started Season 3 last night. Seasons 1 & 2 were awesome. Just go buy the seasons on DVD, you won't be disappointed.

Christmas Time!

I finally finished decorating the tree this weekend! Yay for me!

This is the first year that I didn't buy a real tree this year. I felt really bad buying the fake one. I love the smell of a real Christmas tree in the house, but I just wasn't into it this year.

First I really wanted to get two trees. I wanted one in the front room and one in the front window of the formal living room that you can see from the street and as you walk up to the door. Then I thought about cleaning up after both real trees...that scared me. So then I scaled it down to one tree. But which one would I put up?!? Too many decisions.

Saturday Jonathan and I went to Super Target and got the fake 6.5' Pre-lit Colorado Pine. Pre-lit, that tall and it was on sale. Sold!

Jonathan took it all out of the box and fluffed it all up for me. I would have gone mad trying to do that. I'm way too of a perfectionist with too little patience.

But this is how it turned out. I just snapped this pic real quick with the iPhone. I will try and get a better pic with my camera. Hope you like it! :)

And Happy Birthday to Me too!

Monday was my Birthday and I had to work...sucky.

It's ok though, because I got to still go to Disneyland! Jonathan and I went together. It was actually the first time just he and I went since we've gotten our passes.

Since we are Annual Passholders, I got a present from Disneyland! I had to go to the ticket booth and receive my gift card for $72.00 and my birthday pin! To be honest, I was most excited about the pin. It is just a little cheapy kind of pin. It says Happy Birthday and they write your name on it...it is the little things that tickle me the most really. Oh, and the gift card isn't bad as well :)

I proudly displayed my pin right where everyone could see it while I was wearing my jacket: On top of my boobs, right in the middle. What? I was wearing a jacket for warmth, so I couldn't just pin it in the normal position.

When I went through the gates it popped up on the screen 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY!'.

We went on all the rides we wanted to, we ate churros, I was wished Happy Birthday all over, I got my highest score ever on Buzz Lightyear and we saw some of the fireworks show. I thought that it was a very successful trip for having come after work along with the park closing at 9pm that night.

The last stop of the night was Cheesecake Factory at GardenWalk. It was delicious as always. Although our server saw my button, since I forgot to take it off before we walked in, and he tried to sing Happy Birthday to me. I kept telling him no, but Jon was very insistent in telling him yes. Well, salvation came when he walked back to the table letting me know that they were in fact out of the little birthday cheesecakes for the night. Thank goodness! I so dislike the restaurant singing. Although, I really like to tell servers about my friends birthdays. Go figure.

Happy Birthday Presley!

HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY PRESLEY!

Today we were supposed to go to Disneyland for her birthday. Notice the wording...supposed. My Mom at the last minute decided that going to Laughlin in their coach would be more fun. Obviously squashing my plans. I was sad. You get into Disneyland for free on your birthday, which is a plus, but I really wanted her to get the little Birthday pin they give you too. Oh well, maybe next year.

Oh, and yes that cake is a cheesecake. She wanted a whole cheesecake since they went to Cheesecake Factory last weekend. So, we got her one and Jonathan piped the number 5 and the crown on it for her.

Halloween Bash 2009

Well, well, well....this certainly was one for the books.

The party went great! We had a awesome number of people in costume! I was really pleased the way everything turned out.

Jonathan dressed up as Billy Mays, beard and all. I told him it was too soon but he was determined.

Katie was a Starbucks Cup. We labored all day making the costume. It came out soooo awesome! We made it all out of felt and wire. It came out amazing.

I was a Deviled Egg. Katie and I made me a egg costume that I wore out of the felt and we stuffed to make me look like an egg. Painted a yellow yolk on it with little red dots on top. To top it off I wore a headband with devil horns and a little devil tail.

Although, the Best Costume award went to Jonathan's sister Corrie and her boyfriend Sean. They were Mr & Ms PacMan. Corrie made the costumes...they were absolutely amazing! She also made a stick with one of the white dots and cherries on the end. They won best costume hands down.

Our only Zombie of the night got her award for Scariest Costume. And Katie rounded out the awards being the winner of the Cutest Costume with her Starbucks Cup.

Oh! And the picture of the night was having Ghost scare everyone. Our friend Sarah dressed up like an old school ghost with just a sheet over her head and blacked out eyes. The best 'scare' picture was of Ghost scaring Pimp. He even threw his pimp cane in the air.

Here are a few pics that we got from the night:

Starbucks Cup and Ghost:
Jonathan as Billy Mays:
Me as Deviled Egg:
Jon Hall as Banana (and yes he is wearing Mickey Mouse hands, although I really feel that it totally completed the costume):
Mikael as Duct-Tape Man:
Monique as Dorothy, complete with a real-life Toto:
Corrie and Sean as Mr & Ms PacMan (complete with Ghost trying to scare them in the background):
And finally, Ghost scaring Pimp:

Let's Play Catch-Up!

Ok, so I know that I've taken a while off of the blog...I am aware of the situation (see previous post).

So here is a re-cap of the time that has passed:

  • Dad is now Cancer free! Yay! They ended up taking approx. two feet of colon out along with his appendix. No chemo was/is necessary. Needless to say we were extremely excited.
  • We have been trying to find a building to move the business. This is way beyond difficult. Lets couple my Mom, the pickiest person alive, with a market that is saturated with buildings that aren't to her liking. Argh. It's like trying to nail Jell-O to the wall. She won't make a decision and she just keeps getting distracted by different buildings/areas/options/properties. Beyond difficult.
  • Jonathan and I got Annual Passes for Disneyland. By far the best purchase of the year. It is the best time filler. Nothing to do? Hey, lets go to Disneyland! Ok! It really is the happiest place on earth. I hadn't been in years and I did forget how much I really did love it.
Ok I think that sums it up for big ticket items. Here are some random thoughts that I have been dwelling on:
  • I seriously need a vacation. But there are two problems with this: Not enough extra spending cash right now and I can't take as much time off as I would like. And I can't nail down where we would go. Too many options...And yes K8 - you guys are on the top of the list. I do miss the Pacific NW!
  • I have now become one of those people that takes my digital camera with me everywhere. How did that happen? I don't know...
  • My home is still overrun with the Parents and Sister. Ugh. I wish I could just go home and relax. For anyone that knows my Mom, you know that isn't possible. She goes 150 MPH at all times. It really wears on you after a while.
  • I have this list in my head of my whole plan for when I win the lottery. I modify it on a semi-regular basis. The clincher is though, I don't EVER buy a lottery ticket. Ever. But I do have this inkling in the back of my head that I will one day win. I need to start buying a ticket for that to happen.
  • I really want the Angels to go to the World Series. I think that we have the talent and the want to make it happen. I am sending all my best thoughts to all the players.
  • I really want the Chargers to be awesome this year. A healthy LT and Merriman. Too bad that obviously isn't going to happen.
Well, I think that is a pretty good wrap-up. I am going to hit the bed now...still tired from our Disneyland trip from yesterday.
